Hopping all weeknd and ain't stopped yet!

Well, my sister from Virginia took off this morning for the waterpark and 3 fun-filled days of camping with her two grandaughters(one whom she is raising), her grandson and my daughter, Princess Der. Oh yeah, and my mom!

My sister is totally insane. The kids have all been together since Thursday and the littler ones, both 8 have been arguing quite a bit already. They both have a few "issues" to contend with.

Her grandson was born around 2 months early, and had a few issues. He had a cyst of some sort growing on his brain which had to be surgically removed. The doc lopped off 1/2 his brain! He is a super-smart dude, but has a few issues like impulse control, hyperactivity, and more. I believe they think he may have mild autism or aspergers. The medicine cocktail they curently have him on seems to make his impulse control worse (at least for his mouth!) he surprised my sister a few times with some comments!

The granddaughter has a few issues as well, probably due to lack of pre-natal care by the mother and a not so healthy lifestyle. She is now on a diet that is free of preservatives and is doing much better. But still, there were issues with the two.

But, they all made it to the camp. I 1/2 expected for them to come back!

My sisters bird, Berto also joined us! Yesterday, my sister went to meet my mom for breakfast after church. Ron & I stayed here. I wanted to make a mac salad for dinner that night.








Ron & I were sitting outside of the camper when Berto started whistling the theme song to "Andy Griffith" and "Jingle Bells." I got up and went to the door and started whistling through it trying to get the bird to whistle. Ron was laughing so hard, he got me laughing and I couldn't whistle!


All of a sudden, I remembered the macaroni cooking! I ran in the house- there are the boys veging in front of the TV.

Obviously, I had to start over!


All in all, we had a great weekend.







Wednesday, Ron & I fly out to Dallas for the AmeriPlan Convention! I'm psyched! I spent ALL DAY looking for a black evening dress and shoes. I HATE shopping, but I was alone so it wasn't so bad. Found a dress I really like!

Then, had to go get my hair cut & frosted tonight. Almost ready to go!

If you don't hear from me tomorrow, I'll whip up a post from convention!

Getting back in "Work at Home" groove

Santa has packed his bags and is headed for warmer weather. His long journey is over, his job is done. Now it's vacation time! For those who work from home, particularly network marketing, January is not a month for vacations-it is one of the busiest months of the year. There is always a new flood of people to talk to. Everyone wants to start a home based business in January.

But January is also one of the hardest months to just sit down and focus. All that Christmas stuff has to be taken down and put away. The living room has to be put back in order. The kids bedrooms have to be rearranged to accommodate a barrage of new toys and games.

Many of us are also catching up on doctors visits that we may have been too busy to make during the holidays. Catching up on paperwork that has been neglected due to all the shopping and festivities. And then there are those who are going to the gym every day, trying to fulfill that resolution to "lose just 20 pounds"!

So when do you find time to work? Sometimes I only have 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there to work my business. Here are 10 things that I have found you can do in 5 minutes to help move your business forward.

1. Place an ad or two on the internet. With the Copy & Paste feature, placing multiple ads only takes minutes.

2. Return a phone call- most only take a few minutes.

3. Write out postcards or write a short note to a customer or business partner.

4. Answer a few emails

5. Do any printing you may have- while things are printing, do other things.

6. Go on a social networking site and "socialize".

7. Read a page or 2 of a good " self- help" book.

8. Straighten up your desk.

9. Leave a paper trail- it only takes a minute to tack a flyer on a bulletin board, or to leave a card in a shopping cart.

10. Meet someone new- network! You can do it anywhere! Grocery store lines, doctors offices, sporting events, etc...

When you start looking for little snippets of time in your workday, you will find there is plenty available to work your home business. Those little snippets eventually turn into big bucks!

The Canine Working Companions Event

Yesterday me and another broker, Larry set up a table at the Canine Working Companions Event. The organization trains dogs to be used as hearing dogs, service dogs and therapy dogs. We really had a great time talking to the other vendors and some of the people who train the dogs. My 11 year old "came to work" with me. She is great about going around & handing out flyers to people for us. We gave out a lot of information on our benefits programs and work at home. We had a contest giving away a weekend vacation for two as 1st prize, a shopping card for second, and a free Rx card for 3rd.










Here's a pic of Larry trying to get people to fill out raffle tickets for the Canine Working Companions as well as our raffle for the vacation. We were also giving out bags that had a toothbrush, a benefits flyer, and a dog treat.




Canine Working Companions also had Santa available to get pictures of your pets for Christmas. So there were a lot of dogs there. There were so many cute ones. We saw a lot of retired greyhounds, a few pugs, a puggle, a french bulldog, the whole line-up it seems.


Canine Working Companions are going to be coming to one of our Girl Scout meetings and doing a presentation for them. My girls are excited as anything dog is cool.

We are thinking of training a puppy in our home. I think it would be a great way to give back to the community. Also, my daughter needs to do a community service project for Girl Scouts. The organization takes care of vet bills and such, we are responsible for getting the dog to the appointments and training classes. We also need to buy the food. So, we are going to see about going to a training class and checking it out. It may be hard to give the dog up at 12-14 months, but rewarding when you see where they go and how they will enrich the lifes of the person they go to.

The neat thing is, you have to socialize the dogs, so you can take them into stores, restaurants, etc... with permission. Apparently most managers are ok with it. Once they are through training, then obviously they can go anywhere. I would like to train a therapy dog and take it to nursing homes and hospitals.

I really enjoyed our time yesterday, seeing those in wheelchairs come with their dogs. Very touching. Hopefully, Larry and I will get a lot of business from our efforts yesterday and that my family and I can help those less fortunate by training a companion dog.

WOW! We had a GREAT event!



Another broker and I set up a table at an event this weekend to spread the word about our dental and health plans and work from home opportunity. Many people seemed impressed that we get paid residually, which means we get paid every month on work we already did. That's how people can achieve $100,000+/yr in annual residual income. Granted, it's a build. Some people expect that much their first week, and are disappointed when they aren't rich yet. People also like that you can work your biz your way. I like doing events. Some people like to play on the computer all day, participating in discussion boards and such and meeting future prospects that way. Whatever they choose, consistency and patience are the key that opens the doors to the riches that await them.




We had a lot of fun. Larry, my broker brought helium and balloons, and candy for the kids. My daughter and her friend came, and boy were they good workers! We held a raffle for a vacation and $25.00 in free gas. The person that won the vacation had a choice of several destinations: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Reno and Cancun to name a few. My daughter and her friend went all over that place, getting vendors and customers alike to enter our drawing. We had over 100 entries! There was an area on the tickets to checkmark if they are interested in information on benefits or work at home . We had many people interested in both.


The woman who won was soooo thrilled- she said she had never won a thing before! We actually had a $300 gas voucher- redeeemable at $25.00/ a month. We didn't state that for the raffle because people don't seem to believe you- they think it's a scam. They are more than happy to take $25.00 in free gas- but $300.00- NO!


There is another event coming up that we decided to participate in. It is a much larger event, and we are planning on having even more prizes.


I met a couple of ladies at the event Saturday- one sells Lia Sophia jewelry and one sells Tastefully Simple gourmet foods. I was telling them my idea for a home business expo. Maybe have it in January, and have all the home business companies represented. People who want to start the new year out with a new opportunity can come and see all the opportunities available to them. Vendors can also have their wares for sale. They really liked that idea, so I'm going to check into that. I would also like to start a Woman in Home Business networking group. We'll have to see.


Tonight, I was co-hosting our training call for a class we have called FastTrack2RSD. RSD is the first level of management with AmeriPlan. When a person promotes to RSD, their $2,500 accidental death and dismemberment insurance is doubled, and they receive a vested contract making this THEIR business, and is both willable and sellable. This business can be left to loved ones when we are gone. God forbid if anything should happen, those who have achieved RSD or above can rest assured knowing they are leaving a legacy to their family.


The FastTrack2RSD class helps new brokers achieve that goal as quickly as possible. I talked about flyers, events and how to talk to prospects when they call to inquire about the benefits. I really enjoy doing these calls- it is so cool to help others succeed. I've never had a J-O-B where I could be successful and help others be successful at the same time.


And like the title of this blog states, I can do a good share of it in my jammies!

It's another beautiful day!


Well, we never made it to the zoo the other day. We decided to wait until the next day so my son's girlfriend's mom could come, too. So my daughter and I headed for a park several miles from here. They have 7 miles of shoreline on a lake where you can walk, ride bikes or rollerblade. We rented a bike for me, and rollerblades for my daughter. You rent by the hour, and after about 1/2 hour, my daughter wanted to trade. We wear about the same size shoe- so I said sure, why not. Now, I have rollerblades, but to tell the truth, I had only used them about 3 times. Then, I was diagnosed with Cancer and had to have my kiney and spleen removed. That was the end of rollerblading that year. The next summer, I was still healing and didn't think I could handle it. Now, almost 2 years after being split across my belly, I can actually rollerblade! Of course, I stopped every 10 feet because my thighs and ankles KILLED me! But I was rejoicing in life! It was great! I was also thrilled riding the bike around the park.


I used to ride my bike almost every morning in good weather. I was up to about 5 miles a day-then surgery stopped that! While I was recovering, my son borrowed my bike to get to work. He worked at a farm down the road. Well, it started raining, so he got a ride home, leaving my bike by the side of the barn. In the morning, it was gone! After our excursion the other day, I came home and threw my rollerblades in the car so they are with me whenever I go to the park. I also purchsed a new bike the other day- a pink Schwinn! It has no gears, and no hand brakes, which is exactly what I have been looking for. My last bike was an 18 speed and I used like 2 speeds regularly! I only need something to amble around the countryside on and get some exercise! I have gained about 50 pounds since surgery- I definately have some tools now to help me lose it!


Have no fear, I was still working, even at the park! I left some cards and such around. As a matter of fact, I have an interview with someone who emailed me and said they got my info from a business card- maybe it was from the park. I also put flyers up at a few new places along the way.


We never made it to the zoo the next day, either. The girlfriend's mom ended up working late, and my daughter spent the night at her cousins. So, I sat on the computer 1/2 the day throwing up Internet ads, and the rest of the day I answered calls, then played with my duck pond.


Last summer, when I was working at the library, I vowed to take my daughter to a new beach every Monday. I worked days Tues.- Fri 1-5 p.m., as well Monday & Wednesday nights from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. So Monday was to be our day. Well, someone at work got sick or something, then my bosses mother was critically ill. I ended up working just about full time all summer. Now that I work from home, we're going to try a lot more this year, and get my flyers everywhere while having fun! I'm almost as excited about school letting out for the summer as my daughter!
